A little bout Me
Very few if any actually win a contest based on the merits of their entry. It’s all about support. Just because you spend countless hours and amass a ton of votes will not guarantee you a win. Sad but true, unless you follow some of the guidance I’m providing.
1. Report and entry – This causes an automatic deletion of the entry. They lose all accumulated votes and have to start over. They may also get ticked off enough to not resubmit at all. NO human being reviews the complaint before deletion takes place. The SL program is swift to respond and actually sends the member a canned email stating the entry is in violation of the contest rules. This tactic is especially effective on weekends when a member might not notice for a couple of days. Also a favorite ploy in the closing days of a contest.
2. Report a members profile – This causes deactivation of the member. It may take more than one person to report for the “bot” program at SL to deactivate so enlist your friends.
3. Downvoting – A primary tool used to drop an opponents average score. Since it can be done by guests, even better. Enlist your MySpace and FaceBook friends. You can also use different browsers that are not logged into SL and jam them some ones yourself. If you also have a computer at work……More guest downvotes can be applied since it comes from a different IP address.
4. Last minute entry – Since SL allows entries up until the day before a contest ends watch out for the new entries. Sure they still have to have a minimum of 300 votes to pull it off, but with enough support and employing the above tactics they may be able to pull it off. Downvoting their entries really puts a crimp in their score. Downvote those entries immediately so they get discouraged and give up.
5. Hacking – When all else fails enlist the skills of a hacker. They can actually manipulate the totals as well as averages. If they get caught you are not at fault.
All but the hacking are completely legal here. Never worry about repercutions. The staff at SL is for the most part totally unresponsive to your emails. They rely on the installed program to take care of problems. Their goal is to make money from the sponsors and could care less about the members complaints and recommendations. The staff members are also allowed to submit entries, vote, and carry on like any other member.
I would wish you best of luck at winning, but "LUCK" is not a factor here, so GO for it!!
It is with great sadness I depart SL. In the beginning as a newbie the contest aspect was exciting, but I quickly learned the reality of contest games being played once you enter. Along the way I have met some of the most wonderful, honest, caring individuals whom I can truly call “friends”. You know who you are and we still interact on other less drama free sites. I’m not forgetting you and ♥ LOVE ♥ you to pieces!!!! That is no reflection about how I feel about your friendship. I plan to stop by and vote on your entries, secretly of course so you don’t feel obligated to thank me. Well, I did leave all the friends as there is no way to do a mass deletion and I'm not going to spend hours here deleting one at a time.
Many of you also know about my recent entry in the Spill Canvas Black & White contest. Many forgot the contest was about the “BEST” black and white photo, not how much of a fan you were of the band. That is my photo, taken by me, watermarked, and copyrighted. If you are not a photographer then you are totally unaware of how much extra information is included in the file for a digital photo which can and should be used to verify its validity. It was not a scanned or stolen image and met all rules of the contest. Of course I enhanced it with some editing programs to give it that aged effect. That was not against the rules and there wre many other edited photos entered. HEY….I’m a professional photographer. Not that I expected to win, but just show off my work.
Those responsible for reporting my photo to eliminate me….TWICE……I hope it was worth it!!
