About Me

THE SONG OF THE DAY

Rammstein - Stripped

* I like this version of the song even more than the original by Depeche Mode! *

I don't cross my fingers
because it would be uncomfortable to vote ;)

Forgive me, but I reduced my voting list to a minimum.
I still will be voting for just a few people every time I'm online. No comments as usual.

If you need a 10, you are very welcome to ask for it!
But first, it is pleasant to hear "Thank you!" sometimes, and second, don't get offended if I don't vote for you at once.
I don't always check comments right away - can be busy, lazy, in hurry, and can leave it for another time of logging in.

Good luck to everyone!

Vote 10s for Ruth's entry!
Leave her a comment and she will give you 10s in return.

blank

Please vote 10s for these people as well!
EVERY ONE of them returns 10s, most are checked by more than one contest!

If they don't, let me know, I'll have to have a serious conversation with them :)

TO RANDOM VOTERS and NEWBIES WHO VOTE PRIVATELY - Please read!

Written in bad mood. Forgive my rudeness

When it doesn’t show under your entry that you’ve voted so much time ago, most often it means that you either vote privately or don’t vote. So WHY do you vote privately?? What’s the purpose?? When you register, the default settings are always set to public voting (NOT “secret”), so what is the need to change it to private (“secret”)?? Why should I trust that you actually vote for me?
10, 1 or whatever – where is the proof that you’ve VOTED???

One of things which I cannot stand is when, saying kindly, not very bright people think
that they are so damn smart, that they can trick others, who are so damn stupid!!

Perfect example would be one girl (I guess she is deactivated already) who promoted her Worst Gift entry all over the site, asking for 1s, and then voted 10s for the competitor with the same exact goal – to get the lowest score – and left the proof that she didn’t “downvote”! and also asked to return the 10 on one of her other entries!! What the…??? Just an example…

If you leave a comment when you vote and if you are not one of 2 specific persons on SL (which I ignore on purpose because they are just like those described above), I always return your votes. But I’m not an idiot. If I return votes to those who vote privately (or say that they voted), it is ONLY because I’m usually in a good mood and am just lazy to check, because I say that I will return (say = do), and because to give an extra 10 is a deal of few seconds. But it is getting more annoying with every day! it really sucks that almost a half of those who vote often and ask to return don’t show up as they voted! I hate the idea that those “smart ones” see the note in my profile name “I return 10s” (like most of us have), and they just leave a message without voting! Excuse me?!

That’s why I’m asking all those private voters to reconsider their voting preference. It’s so much easier for everyone if you vote publicly! And those who want to get free 10s by leaving a comment every day
and not voting, - don’t try to fool people!!

I know, it is VERY long. But I am sure, it is important to read it at least once.
Especially SOME FACTS ABOUT SUGARLOOT EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW part.
You probably will be interested or warned where from I know all this information? Just attention to details, some logic and a lot of curiosity :)
I have a very smart husband also who shares his thoughts with me. You know, one brain is good but one and a half is better! :) Joking.

INFORMATION ABOUT SugarLoot TO THINK ABOUT

Most of you probably noticed that some people say every day that they voted for you, but at the same time it says 4-7 days passed since their last vote. Jeff explains very well what the problem is. But not always is it cheating, the person just may not have a clue what is going on!

First of all is just like that: he has downvoted you as a guest before. His voting 10 (or less) later being logged in is not accounted. He is a bad guy. But on second hand, he can also be a good guy, who likes you for any reason and just wanted to give you two tens for a day! He doesn't know about all these IP things and is just digging a hole for himself! That's why you should always make sure that you vote under your user name! And third. A lot of us have spouses or boyfriends, kids, parents, friends, classmates who come to visit you sometimes. We refer them to SugarLoot and they start to vote from the same household. That means the same IP-address! When your referral gets your people to vote for on his list, you are in trouble.

One more thing, very coming by the way. If your Internet provider is America Online (AOL), then you are not going to have a unique IP. You and several more people will be voting for the same person and only
the first person's vote will come through.

Knowing this, you should always think twice before voting. Don't vote as a guest (unless you are friend/relative/etc who votes from a different place) and do consider your referral from the same place of voting (house, office, maybe even computer classes) as a potential "stealer" of your vote.

Maybe you are just unlucky and the system suddenly decides to ignore your vote. But I wouldn't think that it happens often.

Another thing was noticed recently and it is something new! SL says the person did not vote for a while, but the person is leaving comments that he did. It happens all the time now! After people change their voting to private, they can give you their tens every day but the system will still be saying that it was several days since their last vote. Well, those days are when they last voted for you publicly. And all we need is a hope that those votes are counted.

Of course, some of you will think now: "Hey, I don't have to vote then!? I can say I do, but why should I? I'll save some time then!" But it is almost as indecent as saying you voted 10 but giving 1 instead. Don't!

A lot of people don't leave comments for some reason. They are often considered to be down voters. But why would someone vote ONE publicly? Only being really stupid but thinking he is sly! First: "She will see that I voted and will think that it was ten." But most of time they are called down voters at once, so it is not smart anyway. Second: "What? Which settings are you talking about?? I didn’t know that I can change settings!!! OMG, they’ll know that I down voted them!!!!”

What is “the proof”? “I will not vote for you unless you leave the proof that you voted 10.” Kym already explained it before! There is no proof!! You can type whatever your hands want! Just make some corrections and TADA! “the proof” is ready! And what is the proof that you voted? Haha! Didn’t you ever notice the link “Skip to next entry”? Did you ever click on it? No kidding! After you do so, right there on the right side there will be the same "proof”! So you just add “Your rating 10” and it’s done! Or even better! Vote ONE and then add ZERO to your “proof”!

Come on guys, don’t let others fool you
and don’t fool others!

The only proof can be public voting. Although there are some tricks too. Some people can be indecent enough to tell they voted TEN when it was ONE. And on the other hand, your vote can happen not to come through. (read the first paragraph). Anyway you have to trust the person. And yes, so-called proof is actually for your comfort: you can see at which exact moment the person voted for you. You do know that when you vote, that “proof” does not account your vote yet, right? ;)

Private voting can be tricky too though. I admire those people (there are a lot of examples) who vote privately and don’t have to worry that someone will consider them as down voters. Imagine how good their reputation is! People want to be on their daily list in spite of their private voting! And only their reputation (and maybe your intuition plus desire to trust people) can stop from any suspicions. Again, different people – different reasons. It makes sense to vote privately when you want to be safe from some suspicions. But really, better have spotless history.

About spotless history now! I don't really believe in "catching down voters". How can you catch? There is no sign “This guy voted ONE”. Yes, sometimes you see his face smiling at you from “Voted for me”. You think: “A-ha, gotcha! Here is 1 for you and welcome to my profile section named “I caught down voter, give him ONE!” And the face owner at the same moment is recognizing those sometimes-not-recognizable words or struggling with the SugarLoot, which gives him an error message on posting his comment. Or he is interrupted with a phone call. Or his computer decided to freeze or reboot (mine did it indecently often). Or again, he is one of those who does not leave comments. At the same time another voter privately gives you 1 and of course doesn’t say anything! Your score changes at once, “Down voter” is still struggling, REAL down voter is quietly down voting someone else and you are editing your black list already. I call it “being the victim of the moment” :)

Another example: It is quiet time and during 30 minutes your score suddenly changes. You have + 1 vote and your score drop down! At the same time you are getting the comment: “Voted 10!” from John. You are sure that he is a down voter, even if he is at a different contest! But thing is that he is using AOL, his vote hasn’t come through but real down voter’s vote did! The person just was unlucky to vote for you at the same moment!! Poor guy…

Or another case, happened a few days ago. During the day I saw the comment from one of my dailies (who I trust) with promotion of her entries. I usually remove such comments, so I removed hers. Later, she commented again, probably thinking that she forgot to vote since there was no comment from her on my page. I removed it again. Finally, third time she posts her comment and at the same time my score drops down!! Down voter??? NO. She already voted earlier, so her 3rd time vote (if she voted again) didn’t come through! Some one else’s vote moved me down! Imagine, if I was a newbie?? That’s why my advice is: If you are not sure that you’ve voted, go on and vote again but say something like “I’m not sure if I voted, so I’m voting again”.

I don’t want to say that all those guys claimed to be down voters are not. No, I am pretty sure that a lot of them REALLY ARE (read about downvoting publicly again!). But you cannot be sure always! It is so simple to put his face on your page saying “I AM sure” ! Smart people will have their own opinion (plus intuition etc); in the worst case they’ll become aware of that person. But someone can become aggressive and endow with ONEs daily!

And one more thing. Do you remember your first moments on SL? Remember how Vince was telling about "honest voting"? :) I bet most of you were just like that! You get inspired by the idea to win some prizes. You put your first 1-10 best pictures including your hamster. Then you think: “Now what? Let’s see who else is here!” You start looking around and notice some really ugly pictures! That dark shot with silhouette of human (is it a girl??) and with white, excuse me, toilet seat, which stands out right there on the back ground!? Is it really the best eyes??? Yuk!! ONE! And this cutest kitten, sleeping on someone’s hand, isn’t it cute?? TEN!! Etcetera. No comments of course. What is read by experienced SugarLooter as “He is in the same contest, voted and didn’t leave a comment!...”
That’s why it’s a good idea to check “down voter’s” profile before writing him nasty messages. Maybe he registered only yesterday and does not know all this culinary yet. Be indulgent! Yes, I still remember how offensive it was to be called “down voter” after I decided that one shot was not worth 10 but 8 only…

I completely agree though that it is good tactic to say “I will down vote you back” ; it makes some down voters to be aware of you :) But pointing at someone and saying “I am sure” is cruel and just not right!

You really think that he is a down voter?
Don’t down vote back!

Enjoy that he is stupid to do it
and you are smart not to!

And for complete picture, real example! I was the witness!

After my husand voted 10s for two of several entries of a person, he got a message: “Why did you down vote me???”
On his question “WHY do you think I did it?”
the person answered: “I look at my entry, it says you voted for me.”

Isn’t it scary??? No, really, isn’t it???

SOME FACTS ABOUT SUGARLOOT
EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW:

Check Jeff's profile to find out how to see who voted for you and another useful information.

Most of it is basic, I know. I am not discovering America. But believe me, A LOT of people don’t know it!!! (see example above)

• When you log out of SL, you still will appear online for at least 30 minutes. Maybe even longer, I don’t know for sure. So if you come to SL from time to time during the day, people will think you are online all day long, staring at your monitor trying to catch down voters! Maybe you are though, who knows :)

• There is only 1 vote per day allowed. Vote 3, 10 or 16 times in a row, for all those missed days – only one vote will be registered. It makes sense, doesn’t it?

Do not vote as a guest if you plan to vote later while logged in and you want your vote to come through. Do know that only one vote per household will be accounted, so your spouse (kids, etc) or you will look like a liar if both voted on the same person.

Don't vote 1 and say you gave 10. It is indecent.

• Some regions are in different time zones than SL. E.g. Michigan is 1 hour later. I live in MI, if I want to vote for that specific day, I should do it before 1 a.m. of MI time, what is midnight on SL. And those who voted for me minutes ago will show up as voted 1 hour ago. (Hint-hint: Try to post a comment and compare your time with SL time).

• I already said that somewhere above: When you vote, there will be stats not including your vote yet!

• Sometimes SL takes its time to account your vote. It can take up to 4 minutes (the longest noticed) to register your vote. The same with your comments. What do you want? It’s a lot of people online, no way to have everything done in 2 seconds! :)

• If you have more then 1 entry, your voter Jack, for instance, can give 10 for one of them and maybe even say he voted on all. You will never be able to say on which exact entry he voted. Only change in your stats (like viewed and voted) can say
something but again, remember that there are a lot of people voting. Jack votes ten on first entry only, Joe down votes all of them (privately) at the same time. Scores change as +2 (on first) and +1 (all the rest) and you claim Jack as down voter. Shame on you.

• Continuing. At that place called “I voted for you, return the favor” , only people that voted publicly will appear. Melanie explains it very well! So Jack (public voter) will show up right there and Joe (private voter) will stay invisible for you. Yeah, shame on you!

• Jack voted most recently (publicly), he will appear at “I voted for you, return…” In a minute you’ll get another vote from Johnson (publicly) and he will replace Jack. So simple, I know! But Real example shows that not everyone knows it… hm…

• Noticed more than once, that not all running entries of some people show up at "Voted for me..." I wonder why...

• It is simple to change settings from public voting to private and back to public. Like you vote 10s, then change to private and do some down voting. Then change back to public like “Nothing happened” . Well, you should know that as soon as you become public, the person who you down voted can see that you voted for him!!! Scared, you down voters? Haha! Of course, they don’t know if it was 1 or 10 points, but does it matter? No comment voting = down voting, following your own logic. Yessssss! (* You are lucky! I already said above that it is different now. I'm curious if it's going to change back...)

• If SugarLoot decides that you are too fast in posting your comments (what happens usually while you do your dailies), it will give you an error message. You can have a break for some short time or just switch from commenting on entry to commenting on profile page and keep your hands busy :)

• It did work a very short time ago! You know you can edit comments after they were posted. But if, for example, you commented yesterday, today you would make some changes in your comment. As soon as you submited your edits (plus delay time), it would show as today’s comment with date and time of your edition.

• When you block someone, you make yourself safe from his commenting but not his voting! He still will be able to give you ONE. Duhhhh...

• My favorite: mystery disappearing of leaders! They are not always gone for forever. Sometimes people want to deactivate their accounts, sit aside for several days and then activate it again. YES, YOU CAN DO IT!! That way you freeze your score and those “lame down voters” cannot affect it anyhow. I guess it is one of reasons! Maybe there are some more, don’t ask me.

• What makes me smile is the phrase My account was deactivated!! You, who deactivate me, if I catch you..." :) If you didn't do it to yourself, no other users can do it for you but the staff of SL. Try to catch them! ;)

I want to repeat it again:
