hello ladies and gents, and welcome to the newest addition to the wonderful world of sugarloot.as most of you may know, there seems to be hundreds of "modeling agencies" gracing the favorites list of countless sugarlooters. well what about the person BEHIND the camera. you know, the one that has to focus on proper lighting, angles, etc.. my own personal opinion of course, is that these sugarlooters are the ones with the
true talent. and now i do believe it is their turn to be recognized. and in such a quest to discover where this real talent dwells, i invite you to join the next big thing:
sugarloot's very own photography competition.

How it Works:
as soon as the applications are in and the ten aspiring photographers are selected, we will begin the competition. each week there will be a theme such as best black and white photo, best portrait, best nature photo, etc.. if selected as one of the photographers, your photo will be due by sunday** at the end of the week. the judges will then vote and decide on who should no longer continue in the competition. if you win, your photos will be displayed in the "my photos" album and you will be graced by sugarlooters (including myself!) as the best photographer in the competition.

Chosen as a photographer? Here's what you need to know.
Theme of the Week:
candids
quick tip: Candids are unposed and not exactly the easiest to capture. It’s only natural for a person to throw in a quick smile when a camera is in front of them. Tips for taking candids? 1) Bring your camera everywhere. This way you’ll be ready for any opportunity to snap a photo. 2) Use a long zoom & turn off the flash. 3) Switch your camera to continuous shooting mode. It will take photos continuously and you will sometimes get some surprising and spontaneous shots that you’d have never gotten if you shot just one. 4) Photograph people doing things or two or more people together. It makes for a more interested photo!
Due by:
sunday, september 13, 2009
**note: if all photos are submitted before the due date, we will begin the next contest as soon as possible with the next due date still being the following sunday
if, for whatever reason, you will be away and unable to submit your photo by a deadline, please let us know and we can give you the theme AHEAD of time. thank you.
if your photo is not submitted by the deadline, you will eliminated!

Meet the Competition

Judges Comments: Absolute favorite this week. Although not a very exaggerated worm's eye view, the attention to detail and the lighting is phenomenal. Great job!
sammy
Judges Comments: Not your best throughout the competition, but I like your idea for the bird's eye view. If the photo were a bit lighter it would be a stronger photograph.
samantha
Judges Comments: This is a great photo. I love that you truly understood the concept this week and shot from the worm's eye view. It makes the shot far more interesting. Good job!
