About Me

Hello, I'm Mae.
That isn't my real name, just my alias.
This story is similar to the movie 500 Days of Summer.
...Although I haven't seen it yet, lol.
It's written in a guy's point of view, so it's interesting.
It's a love story...sort of. You'll see.

Grace widened her chocolate brown eyes, the gold-speckled irises flickering in the warm glow of the fire.
“Well…? Truth or dare?”
Snapping back to reality, I blurted out the first thing that came to my mind. “Truth.”
She smirked at me, and my heart skipped a beat. “I—I meant dare.”

Melinda Stolski shook her head with refusal and stared me down.
“You said truth, so you have to stick with that," she quipped.
"So tell us…what’s your deepest, darkest secret?”
My heart, which was first fluttering almost out of its capacity, sunk to the soles of my black Adidas sneakers.

My eyes met with Melinda’s, then quickly averted to Grace’s.
She had a sympathetic smile on her rosy lips.
She was my deepest, darkest secret.
My best-kept secret, at that.
The real truth? I thought. I love you.

I never expected to meet the love of my life at a concert.
I especially didn’t expect it to be my band’s concert.
Alright, “concert” is an overstatement. It was more like a gig at a local coffee shop in town.
Still, it was peculiar.

“Why are all your songs like that?” she asked as I stepped down from the stage.
I was taken aback. A girl—a very beautiful one, too—was talking to me.
Not the guy behind me, but me.
She awaited an answer, eyes hopeful with anticipation.
“Like what?” I croaked.

“Like…depressing,” she giggled. Probably the sweetest laugh I had ever heard.
“You know what I mean. All of your songs are in F.”
I grimaced.
She shook her head, the brunette bun piled atop her head becoming loose.
“Don’t get me wrong, I love your songs, especially that last one.”
She hummed part of the chorus while playing air guitar.
I smiled. She was effortlessly adorable.

She opened her eyes and ceased.
“Sorry, I got carried away...”
I just looked at her in amazement.
She smiled, slowly backing away from me and toward the door.
“Well…bye.”

“Dude, stop drooling and take this,” Trevor, the bassist, said to me.
He shoved my guitar into my chest and I staggered backwards.
“Her name,” I said softly.
“Whose name?” he asked as he dismantled the drum set.
“Hers. The girl of my dreams just walked out the door. And I didn’t even get her name.”

“Go find her, then,” Trevor laughed.
I blinked. I should go find her.
Rushing out the door, I looked to my right and left frantically.
No sign.
