Whenever I say I have voted ten, I am being honest. Sometimes, yes I will just vote ten, and other times I'll become interested and check them out. Some though really do stand out to me and I'll be like "That was great!" But I get what you mean, it's very nice to have a personal comment, it really boosts your spirts. Some people will just say good job to everyone and when they say it to you, you get excited, then you see they said the same thing to everyone else.But when I do get a personal comment I always make sure to thank them, because it really does mean a lot. On another, but similar note. It seems these days when you vote only two options exit: 1 or 10. It's like 2,3,4,5,6,7,8, and 9 are only there for decoration. Nobody really votes what they think anymore. It'd be interesting to see what it would like if people voted what they actually thought.

yah, but it's rare to find someone who's like "I like the way you did this, but you could have done that better. I'll give you an 8." I know what you mean about random people not asking for return votes, that's nice too and makes me want to vote more, but you cant always do that cause if you dont say it, some people do vote back. But it's nice to know people are voting back. It makes me want to vote for them in the future, or if they just do anything in return. Like if a person's not in a contest and they vote for me, then I'll give them a photo comment.

i think it all depends on the person. sometimes i myself copy and paste because i get so behind, but i always vote honestly. i don't even see the point in lying about it.


it gets really annoying when they copy and paste the same thing every day though. especially if you know they're a downvoter.

i copy and paste for all my dailies and stuff, because i have so many, its just easier that way, i didnt use to, i use to post stats, but posting stats means nothing so i stopped

yea, but im a member of other voting websites, and they all make it so that you have to register to vote, so how are they all making money? i really dont think they will lose any money, because the people who come here to just vote, vote only for people they want to vote for, then leave, they dont click ads or anything else... i doubt it will work either, but i wish they would, and it cant hurt to try

I think they should let other non-members vote, but they should only have it where you can vote a 10 or nothing at all. This way no one can recuit all their friends to give everyone 1s, like Bruce did.

thats how they make money, not by views, they dont make money by people viewing the website... the other companies that they advertise for, pay them everytime someone links from this website to their website, anyone can make a website and advertise, i did it when i was younger, you use to get 10 cents a click... and im sure they get sponsors for their contests too, thats how they get the prizes... "hey, we'll give you an iPod if you advertise for our new movie"

i mean i dont know for sure how it works, but who would be paying them everyone someone views the site? how would they make money that way? you know what im saying... cause they have to pay to have a .com account, its not a lot, but you have to pay like a yearly fee just to have a .com address... so they only way they would be able to make money is be advertising for other sites... like im sure facebook and sugarloot do an even swap, because they both advertise for each other

I think if you just continually leave those "voted 10. return" comments people [for the most part] are going to ignore it. If you take a little time and leave comments like "wow i love the shirt,etc" people are more likely to be like wow that was nice and vote back. so idk i think what effort you put into your entries you'll get back.

yea, theyre should be allowed to have guest voters, but like they said, to only vote 10s, guest voters shouldnt be allowed to do anything but 10s, if they want to register, then they can fully vote

that's actually an interesting point Bobbi. Like my friends will vote for me in my contests, but not anyone else, so it would be cool if you wanted to have guest voters you could have a password for each, so only your friends could vote, and not unregistered downvoters.

I really dont vote that often but when i do i look at the photo and give a honest vote on it. A lot of people get mad at downvoter but if they think its bad then they should be able to vote low #s. If there was only a ten to vote then it would be a contest of getting people to vote for you.

the only way people win is with daily tens. thats what sugarloot has come to up till the talent contest if i liked their entry they left on my page I would vote a ten otherwise I would just let it pass, but I didnt have time to vote everyone who stopped by my page...now since Im in a contest I have a chance in winning im doing daily tens like I said thats like the only way to win :]

What does it matter if your comment is personal or not? If you want to be personal, that's why you have messages on your profile & places like myspace & facebook lol.

Because I honestly dont get online a whole lot and I honestly want to win something.. and if everyone gets 10s then NO ONE has a fair chance of winning.. you know? To me, for people with TONS of dailies, its kind of hard to do personal tens, and be done before midnight. If you have a life outside of sugarloot, a lot of times, you can't take the time to write: "Hey girl friend! love the profile picture, oh, and that shirt in the entry, simply gorgeous! I bought something just like that on sunday, when did you get that, and where???" like, that's just too much to do if you have tons of dailies and a life outside of sugarloot.

but i start them out with something personal. for a shoes one i just did i put....... wow amazing shoes i would so wear these........ then the usual thing. but yes when people just put "10" i dont believe them most of the time and even if they did they did the same to everyone else too probably

so personal comment day was a success :D it was nice to actually talk to people and get some really nice responses back... my fave was "holy s**t you're the first one to actually watch my video and say something other than 10 for 10?" lol. i found out there actually ARE a lot of nice people on here :D best sugarloot day by far. HOWEVER it did take forever b/c i think i have 150 some dailies, i lost track lol, so tomorrow its back to the usual wed 10 crap

I want to know what other people think of my pictures!! Please tell me, and be honest. I don't even really care about the vote. 10, 1, it doesn't matter. I am more interested in the photography/picture than the score. But no one ever tells me what they think. I added a caption asking for suggestions and comments and the only thing I have gotten is the "10! Return the favor?" And guess what? Most of the time I don't. I am more likely to return the favor if you add something like "This photo looks really nice." or even "Try to work on your camera angle." I will then check out the profile, add the person, and am more likely to do dailies. That's just how I feel. For anyone who has met me on here, they prolly know I like to keep it real, I'm not here for drama shit.

I have noticed that too. I really want to know what people think of the photos. If I vote for someones picture and I really think that it is neat I will make a comment on it but I won't add the "return the favor" if they want to, they will.

no offense, but this site isn't really about who has the best photo usually. It's who can get the most votes. You can have an amazing entry, but if you don't ask for tens, you won't win. It's sad, but that's just how this site works, especially with all the downvoters. I remember when I first started and I was in the clique contest and I never asked for tens, so I never got tens. No one even rated my entry on how good it was.

To me it seems like if i voted someone with constructive criticism they'd freak out and give me a 1. Even if i feel someone deserves say a 6 I give them a 10 for security, and because I feel obligated to return their ten.
Sometimes I give a personal comment on pix, and i LOVE getting a comment too, but with one of your dailies you can only do it so often. The "ten please return" comment is there to notify the person that you voted more than anything.
And is there a way to see what people voted you? The "Hottest Guy" in first said he has a program for it and I'd "better be careful" (yeah, internet trash talking)...so I was just wondering because it really would be nice lol

I don't tell what I vote... I comment on the picture, say what I think of it, and then move on. On the artistic contests, I think people SHOULD give criticism. Seeing some of these snapshots with no feeling whatsoever winning in these sorts of contests is kind of... not cool.

I do vote 10's for my dailiess, your right,, I have talked to lots of ppl i thought there story was sweet. Like I have told ppl iwould much rather make friends even if im not in a contest i still Keep in touch,,But i agree w/ you 100% Nice thought.

I try to be personal with every comment I post. With dailies, it's like Julie said. After a while, there's not many personal things to put. It's just there to notify them, 'Hey, I voted for you today, remember to return'.

I don't like it when i just hav all "return the favor" comments, bt i'm much more likely to actually return the favor if someone gave me good feedback on what i can do better. And sometimes it just ruins the contest when everyone just swaps tens and so the most popular person's entry wins, not the best...

I just joined recently and i think the daily voting is stupid. Only members should vote to prevent cheating. And everyone has 1 vote. Geez people this isn't politics. It's for the most part art.

HEY.....We would all just love to make comments that pertain to the person and their entry, but......If you are an avid SL voter/supporter and voting on over 120 entries/day that would take ALL day!!

when i leave a comment saying "10! return the favor." i am being 100% honest with them. i expect people to do the same and now that you brought this up, i'm not sure if they are. sometimes if i really like the entry i'll tell them that too or comment something about it.

Thiss Is ImpoRtant: to be honest, it seems that the only way people get votes are if they do dailies and copy & paste the same message on 20 other entries.. i've come to realize that there are some really great photos out there that don't get noticed because they choose not to do dailies and stuff like that.
i used to be one of those people, now the only way you can actually get ahead in the competition is IF you do dailies and IF you return the favor and stuff.

i really just wish everyone could stop with it and vote for what they think is the cool and good photo/video/whatever it is deserving to win not the one who will do dailies/vote a hundreed times even though they don't. :/
